The box gutter is the part that matters.

Most conservatory leaks are not failed seals. They are a box gutter full of leaves, holding water above the level of the flashing until it finds its way into the house. It is hidden from the ground, so it goes years without anybody looking at it.

Nobody can see it from below

The box gutter sits behind the roof line. Unless somebody goes up to look, a blockage is invisible until there is water inside.

Leaves, not seals

Before anyone talks about resealing a conservatory, the gutter should be cleared. It fixes a good proportion of leaks on its own.

Lanterns have the same problem

A roof lantern on a flat-roofed extension collects debris around its upstand in exactly the same way.
