Patio clean
Best for: The main seating area
The slabs, the joints and the step edges, cleaned at a pressure suited to the stone.
Patios get slippery long before they look dirty. The black film on Indian sandstone or old concrete slabs is algae, and in a shaded North London garden it never really dries out. We clean the whole area, take the growth out of the pointing, and tell you honestly if the pointing needs redoing rather than blasting it out and walking away.
The reason people ring us about a patio in February is that somebody nearly went over on it. Algae on wet stone is genuinely slippery, and taking it off is the whole fix. That the stone comes back to its original colour is a bonus.

This is a typical North London back garden: old slabs under a fence line, shaded for most of the day, black with algae to the point where the colour of the stone was not visible. Nothing was replaced. It is the same patio, cleaned.
Almost every patio we are asked to replace turns out not to need replacing. What people read as worn-out stone is usually a film sitting on top of it.
North-facing and anything under a fence or a tree holds moisture, and algae takes hold there long before it reaches the open middle.
Indian sandstone will scar if it is hit too hard or too close. It takes longer at a lower pressure, which is why we quote by the area and not by the hour.
Different stone takes pressure differently. We clean a small patch out of the way and show you the result before doing the rest.
Slabs, joints, steps and the bottom of any wall that has gone green. Overlapping passes so there is no banding left behind.
Cleaning shows up pointing that has already failed. We say so and leave it to you, rather than making more work for ourselves.
Every property is different. We tell you which of these actually suits yours, and say so when the cheaper option is the sensible one.
Best for: The main seating area
The slabs, the joints and the step edges, cleaned at a pressure suited to the stone.
Best for: Whole back gardens
Everything hard-surfaced in the garden in one visit, which usually works out better than doing the patio and looking at the path afterwards.
Best for: Older patios with failed joints
Where the pointing has already gone, we can clean and then re-point so the joints do not simply fill with moss again.
Priced by the area once we have seen the stone, either in person or from a photograph. Steps and paths done in the same visit mean one appointment instead of two.
